Sr. Systems Administrator (.docx)

Data Cave has an immediate position for a Senior Systems Administrator. We are looking for a knowledgeable, self-starting individual with experience in a team environment and passion for the IT and data center industry. This position will be responsible for providing comprehensive network and systems administration in an enterprise environment.  Applicants seeking both full-time and part-time employment will be considered.

Candidates should have a broad knowledge and successful experience of TCP/IP network concepts, Linux and Windows administration, VMware administration, SAN and storage fundamentals, and the ability to think critically to troubleshoot, research, and problem solve. Candidate must be a team player and possess a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade and document all aspects of a Linux and VMware-based architecture
  • Troubleshoot problems; work as both a team and/or as a self-directed individual, client-facing experience, self-disciplined and ability to multi-task
  • Perform software and hardware upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, etc.
  • Create and update technical documentation as needed
  • Ensure capacity planning and creation of longer term strategy for systems and software with end users and management
  • Occasionally join customer meetings or calls when in-depth IT knowledge is needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in computer science, electrical engineering or information systems is preferred; however, a comparable degree and/or experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Administration
  • Experience administering Linux and Windows Server virtual machines in a VMware environment
  • Comfortable working with and maintaining open source software solutions
  • *nix scripting experience in at least one of the following:  Ruby, Perl, Python, Bash
  • Understanding of SNMP and ability to interpret and create custom queries is a must
  • Experience with Modbus, PLCs, and other monitoring/management interfaces is a plus
  • Experience with source code management systems (e.g. Git, SVN, CVS)
  • Experience configuring and maintaining the following:  Puppet, MySQL, OpenLDAP, Nagios, Apache, Cacti
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is a must
  • Knowledge with Cisco and Juniper environments is a plus
  • Experience managing a team or another person is a plus
  • Ability to represent Data Cave in a professional and positive manner

Assistant Systems Administrator (.docx)

Data Cave has an immediate position for a Systems Administrator. We are looking for a self-starting individual with some experience that has a passion for the IT and data center industry. This position will be responsible for assisting the Senior Systems Administrator with duties related to network and system maintenance.  Applicants seeking both full-time and part-time employment will be considered.

Candidates should have working knowledge of TCP/IP network concepts, be comfortable with both Linux and Windows, and possess the ability to troubleshoot, research, and problem solve.  Candidate must have a willingness and ambition to learn, be a team player, and possess a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform system installs, routine maintenance, and software updates with the direction of the Senior Systems Administrator
  • Troubleshoot problems, whether its network- or systems-related
  • Maintain existing and provision new devices such as access points, cameras, door controllers, environment monitors, etc.
  • Monitor systems operation to detect potential problems
  • Help identify and remediate problems before they impact customer-facing equipment
  • Perform all other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma; Associates degree or industry certifications preferred
  • Comfortable working with Linux and Windows environments
  • Familiar with virtualization technologies (VMWare, etc.)
  • Knowledge of network equipment such as switches/firewalls/routers, their roles in the network, and logically, how to configure them
  • Comfortable learning new systems and working with unfamiliar equipment/interfaces
  • Ability to represent Data Cave in a professional and positive manner
