Additional UPS Capacity

September 15, 2009 by · 2 Comments

A few weeks ago, we ordered additional flywheels for our UPS systems.

We have two systems for the first quadrant of the building; these two systems fulfill our N+1 design (one primary system plus one system for redundancy).  An additional two flywheels were purchased for each UPS system.  Each individual flywheel supplies 300 kVA.  With the addition of the two flywheels, we have expanded the UPS systems to their limit of 1200 kVA.  This doubled the previous load that each UPS could handle enabling us to power more equipment for the same amount of time (15 seconds at full capacity).

For more information on the UPSs please see the Flywheel UPSs blog post from July.

Below are a few pictures of the expansion installation.

Hi, I just want to know who is the flywheel manufacturer. I can’t see the logo.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,
