The insulation for the block walls was installed a few weeks ago. The installation process was a bit different than I expected.
For strength, every other core was filled with grout. Therefore, only those cores not filled with grout needed to be insulated.
Step One – Mark each core (see the red V’s). Then use a drill to tap the mortar.
Step Two – Use a hose to blow spray foam insulation into the empty core. Once the core is full, temporarily close off the hole with a piece of rebar. Then wait for the spray foam to dry.
Here’s a close up view of a recently insulated core.
Step Three – Repeat in every other core for each of the exterior walls.
Step Four – Re-grout the insulation hole.
